New Year’s Resolution Get Your First Aid Kit Ready

New Year's Resolution Get Your First Aid Kit ReadyWith 2015 coming to an end, everyone is preparing New Year’s resolutions. These resolutions could be to get that promotion and to chase after a dream job. Maybe you’re planning on eating better or to finally stop smoking. Those are all wonderful goals for the New Year, but may we suggest preparing a first aid kit?

Though we would all like to imagine that we’re never going to need a first aid kit, you really cannot predict what will happen in the future. Accidents happen all the time and a well-prepared first aid kit could be what really saves you in times of trouble.

So How Do You Get Started On A First Aid Kit?

First, you need to find a container that is easy to carry around, but can hold everything you need to. The more organizable this container is, the better. For example, a tackle box has tons of different compartments to store things and is easy enough for anyone to carry around. A large purse has also been known to work well too.

Do You Need More Than One Kit?

Typically, a well-made first aid kit should work enough in most situations. However, it really is up to you as to how many you and your family need. For example, if you love to go camping there might be a few camp-specific items you’d like to have for one that you wouldn’t want normally. Also if you have children, you might want to make a separate one that has more kid friendly pain relievers or smaller sized items.

What Should You Have In Your First Aid Kit?

There are several items you should have in your well-made first aid kit. Here are just a few you should think about adding to your kit:

-Bandages
-Pain relievers/allergy medicines
-Ointments
-Scissors/Bandage scissors
-Band-Aids in various sizes
-Splinter removal kit
-Vitamins
-Lotion or body cream
-Menstrual pads / tampons
-Floss, mouthwash and other dental hygiene products
-Birth control and condoms
-Sunscreen

These are just a few of the important items you should have in your first aid kit. Think about the types of situations you want to be prepared for and even take inspiration from the kits others have made. Depending the unique needs of your family, some things will probably be more important to you than others. For example, if your children tend to burn pretty easily and quickly in the sun you definitely want to have a lot of sunscreen handy.
