How Often Should You Replace Your Water Supply?
Normal water stored in a container should be replaced every 6 months, unless you add a water preserver. Be sure to store your water in a BPA-free container and keep it somewhere cool and out of the light. Containers that block the light will help your supply last longer.
How Much Water Should You Store?
Experts agree that each person in your household needs at least one gallon of water per day. This does not include any water for cooking, washing hands or bathing. Don’t forget to factor in household pets when calculating your water. Depending on the size of your pet, you will need at least a half-gallon of water for them each day too.
